What is injection moulding?

The shaping of rubber or plastic articles by injecting heated material into a mould. Inoplas can help with all of your plastic injection moulding requirements.

Injection Moulding: Material is introduced into the injection moulding machine via a hopper.

The injection mould machine consists of a heated barrel with a reciprocating screw, this is driven by a hydraulic or electric motor which injects the molten polymer into a temperature controlled mould tool, the polymer cools and hardens to the configuration of the cavity within the mould tool, it is the cavity that defines the shape of the moulded part. The mould tool is mounted on a moveable platen, when the part has solidified the platen opens and ejects the part using ejector pins.

After a product is designed, a mould tool is made by a toolmaker from metal, usually steel or aluminium, then precision machined to form the features of the desired part.
